The Wildflower Studio Florist Kiama is officially open! Not sure it’s a journey I would want to jump into again any time soon but the destination was well worth the trip.
After months of wrangling with landlords, real estate agents, solicitors, strata and council I got the ‘all go’ and moved into what would become The Wildflower Studio.
It took a small army to get it ready in the shortest time, a massive THANK YOU to my wonderful family and friends for all their help and support. We painted walls in Pure White CHALK PAINT by Annie Sloan with feature walls in Antoinette, half strength Antoinette, Paloma and Pure White, all beautifully smeared together to give an old plastered look.
The cane light pendants were striped with Annie Sloan French Linen. Concrete floors painted and the most stunning wallpaper by Ellie Cashman Design put up.
My barn door was a bit of hard work as the door way had to be widened to comply and timber put into the walls to support the barn door slider.
Hubby hung a ladder in the window, branches above the counter (made of a vintage door, glass slab and Ikea trestles – my customers LOVE it) and did more running about than an excited ant.
I painted an old Mantle to use for display, rummaged through the local petrol station for old rusty shelving to use and painted a donated table to put flowers on.
I love my ‘The Wildflower Studio’ rusty metal lettering sourced locally and my old dressmaking mannequin is mid Chalk Paint makeover!
It was great fun ordering stock and sourcing it both locally and Australia wide, I even found some fab stuff over the ditch. Brands in-store include CHALK PAINT by Annie Sloan, Edible Beauty Tea, Bubba Organics Lotions & Creams, Plain & Simple, Triumph & Disaster Mens Care, Bougies de Luxe Candles & Diffusers, Clay Soap Handmade (in Kiama) and Petal & Pins floral cards and prints. I’m building on it week by week.
Of course I have lots of amazing flowers and foliage, different and interesting flora, berries, branches and moss. Posies are ready to go at just $20, bunches from $35 and you can order by phone or on-line at www.thewildflowerstudio.com.au or maybe book a floral workshop which are held regularly from 6.30 - 8.30pm on Tuesdays, all materials and equipment supplied, bubbly & nibbles provided.
Annie Sloan Workshops & Chalk Paint are super popular and it’s been a mission keeping paint on the shelves! Workshops are booked out in advance so it’s a good idea to get in early and book a space. My Saturday Workshops are $120 and include all materials, equipment and high tea (its worth coming for that alone!).
