Chalk Paint Furniture Makeover

Is this the year for an Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ furniture makeover? I think the most popular makeover item last year were dining suites. And the most popular colour - Annie Sloan Pure White, no surprise there!

It's super easy to make over a daggy old piece of furniture into something really special. I hear a lot "it's a well made solid piece of furniture but I don't love the timber colour" - sound familiar?

So just paint it! That's right, grab a brush and a tin of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ and within hours you'll have a new look! No need to sand, rub back or strip off layers of paint, just a quick clean and you can start painting. It dries in 20 minutes (weather dependant) and you can get another coat on.

I like to leave my piece overnight to cure before I wax. So why wax? Waxing provides a protective layer over the top of your paint and in time cures to a rock hard surface. I apply wax with a brush and leave overnight before buffing off with a soft cloth. Of course if it's just a small piece (picture frame, side table etc) you can buff the same day.

If it all sounds a little confusing and you'd like to know more then pop over to my WORKSHOPS page and have a look at my monthly Chalk Paint Workshops. My workshops are small so you get more out of them, all materials and equipment are supplied and they are great fun. All workshops are designed for both beginners and those with some experience and are held at The Wildflower Studio, 89 Manning Street Surf Beach Kiama - come on, grab a friend and make a day of it!

So just to get your imagination running wild and give you a few ideas here are some of my favourite furniture makeovers discovered on Pinterest including a couple of before & afters...
